Lee Deobald, Ph.D.

Dr. Deobald’s primary responsibilities are the operation and maintenance of our MALDI Q-Tof MS/MS and other analytical instruments in the EBI laboratories. He also assists graduate and undergraduate students by recommending research methodologies and demonstrating equipment usage. Additionally, he manages day-to-day laboratory operations. Dr. Deobald’s research interests include the use of microorganisms to control soil-borne fungal plant diseases, transformation of organic compounds by soil bacteria, and environmental proteomics.

Martina Ederer, Ph.D.

Dr. Ederer performs research on the biodegradation of xenobiotic compounds, particularly ammonium perchlorate, by bacteria within groundwater-derived biofilms. This research is funded by a DOD SERDP federal initiative.

Ingrid Fruth, Ph.D.

Dr. Fruth is interested in identifying novel microbial genes associated with resistance to peroxides and radiation. Fruth is also incorporating the study of a novel sterilization method developed in EBI, for its application in sterilizing against common nosocomial pathogens associated with clinical settings.

Tonia Green

Tonia operates and maintains the EBI Molecular Ecology and Genomics Laboratory, providing expertise in the operation of microarray instrumentation. She also provides direct experience with molecular biology techniques and data acquisition and analysis. Ms. Green is responsible for maintaining and training others in lab safety.

Barbara Olsen

Barbara is EBI Administrative Assistant, in charge of managing the front office and all EBI grant, contract, and service budgets. She also assists with proof-reading and budget and budget justification preparation for grant proposals.
